11月スケジュール November Schedule
(English below) 皆さんこんにちは。
10月中旬となり紅葉が見える季節が近づいてきましたね。 毎秋、木々の葉の色がオレンジ、赤、黄色になっている神社やお寺や 夜のライトアップがとても綺麗ですね。
話は変わりますが、第9回ワールドデフゴルフチャンピオンシップが三重県の津カントリークラブで行われました。13ヶ国の方達が年に2度ある試合を、今回は日本でされました。 ダニーゴングは国際手話、英語、アメリカ手話、日本手話の通訳士として参加させて頂きました。

「皆さんがコミュニケーションをとる為の一部になれたことを嬉しく思い 参加者、ゴルフプロデューサーや審判、ワールドデフゴルフ委員会の皆さんの 通訳ができた事を誇りに思います。
また、たくさんの手話通訳士やボランティアの方々と一緒に働けた事も素晴らしい経験です。 四つの言語の通訳はとても大変でしたが、選手や選手のご家族に津での時間を楽しんで頂けたかと思います。
短い時間でしたが、彼らが日本での思い出を持ち続けて頂けたら嬉しく思います。」

そしてデフジャパンの大阪オフィスが12月初めに閉める事になりました。 この試みは、日本中で日本のろう文化のビデオを作る事へもっと力を入れる為でもあります。
デフジャパンではインタネーットのOOVOO、スカイプにて 日本手話、アメリカ手話のオンラインクラスを続けていきます。 また、イベントも各地で行っていきたいと思っております。
皆さまにお会い出来るのを楽しみにしております。 生徒様、お手伝い頂いた全ての方々、本当に7年間ありがとうございました。

Hello everyone, We are in the middle of October and we will get a chance to see the "Autumn Leaves" changing colors! Every Autumn it is very nice to visit, Shrines or Temples and see beautiful Yellow, Orange and Red leaves in background. As well as visiting places in the evening, where they have lamps "Lighting Up" the Autumn Leaves.
On a different note, The 9th World Deaf Golf Championships, Tsu Country Club, Mie-Ken Japan have come to an end. Athletes came from 13 different countries to Japan and compete in this bi-annual Championship!
Danny Gong was attending there as a Sign Language Interpreter for International Signs, English, ASL and JSL. He said,
"It was a pleasure to be a part of the communication process and an honor to interpret for all the participants, the golf producers/judges and the WDGC board members. In addition, it was also great to work with many Deaf Sign Language Interpreters and Volunteers.
With all of our hard work interpreting into 4 different languages, the athletes and their families could enjoy their time. I hope they continue to have good memories of their short time in Japan."

Finally, DeafJapan office in Osaka will come to a close in the beginning of December. This change will help us to focus on the whole country and will give us time to continue making more videos about Deaf Culture in Japan.
Also, DeafJapan will continue to provide ASL and JSL class online via OOVOO and SKYPE. We will also do ASL/JSL events in different cities. We look forward to seeing you!

Brittany has really been enjoying Japan and learning JSL. Her classes have been really great. Everyone is enjoying learning from her.
She is a very fast signer! But please don't be shy to raise your hand and say, "Sorry, please Sign slower." Brittany will be happy to slow down her Signs and write the English word on the board.
On Oct 21st, Brittany will do her 2nd presentation and soon after, we will have an ASL and JSL lunch party.

It's Not Just Mud Volunteers.mov
2012, was the year that I first volunteered ever in my life. There were many reasons why I wanted to volunteer for the Great Eastern Disaster in Japan, but the main reason for me was because my friend help started an volunteer group called It's Not Just Mud (INJM) and this encouraged me to try. Find out why other people also volunteered! INJM is now currently involved with many community projects and helping with other disaster stricken areas. 8月スケジュール Aug Schedule
こんにちは、皆さん。 みなさんは夏を楽しんでらっしゃいますか？
まだまだ暑い日が続きますが、エアコンの代わりに扇風機を使ったり、クールビズを施行したり、北海道に行ったりして節電しなければいけないですね！
お盆があと数週間で来ますから、皆さんが旅行の計画を立てたり家族との時間を楽しんだりできるといいなぁと考えています！
デフジャパンにも、お盆休みがあります。8月13日〜19日は授業がお休みです。
ASLの8月18日（土）の授業は、9月1日（土）に振替となります。
8月のワークショップとして、フランス手話のワークショップ『手話はアート』を催します。フランス文化、フランスのデフ文化、基本フランス手話を学び、ウェブカメラでフランスのデフの方と会話したりする予定です。
アメリカ手話のルーツは古くフランス手話から来ました（200年前に）。日本の漢字のルーツが中国の漢字から来たのと同じように。ASLとLSFの類似点をお分かり頂けると面白いと思います。

Are you all enjoying your summer?
Even though it is hot, we should all try to conserve electricity by using fans instead of air conditioners, light comfortable clothing or by going to Hokkaido!
Obon holiday will be coming in a few more weeks and I hope you planning your travels and enjoy your time with your family.
As for DeafJapan, we will also celebrate Obon holiday and our classes will be closed from August 13th-19th. *For ASL Class on 8/18 (Sat), we will have a make up class on 9/1.
As for our August workshop, we will have a special French Sign Language (LSF) workshop, "Sign Language is Art". You will learn about French Culture, Deaf French Culture, Basic French Sign Language and converse with a Deaf French person via webcam.
American Sign Language roots come from Old French Sign Language (200 years ago). Similar to how, Japanese Kanji roots come from Chinese Kanji. It will be interesting to see the similarities between ASL and LSF.
Also please join us for our ASL and JSL party on 8/25. Please remember to email us by 8/23 to reserve a seat.

I am sorry to say that due to the Obon holiday, many people will go volunteer. 大変申し訳ありませんが、お盆休みが重なる事もあり、たくさんの方がボランティアに行かれます。
