Hello everyone!
It's almost the end of the year and it's time to attend Christmas parties, Bounenkai (End of Year parties) and Shinnenkai (New Year parties).
December 25th is celebrated differently in Japan. It is not a day for family. It is the day for couples to go on special dates or for friends to go to Theme parks, Karaoke, Illuminations in different cities.
New Years Eve is also celebrated a little differently. Japanese people return back to their hometowns and spend time with their families, watch TV and eat a lot of food. There are no fireworks, no people screaming in the streets (except for major cities like Tokyo, Osaka, etc...).
New Year's Day, Jan 2 and Jan 3 are Japan's shopping days!
Many stores will have many "Surprise Red Gift Bags" mostly filled with items that they want to clear from their stock.
We hope you enjoy your holidays and stay warm.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
